 | Annual Meeting for Residents August 25 at 6 p.m. at Eureka Elks Club The annual meeting for all Hoene Springs residents will take place Monday, August 25 at the Eureka Elks Club. Dinner will be at 6 p.m., meeting at 7 p.m. As in the past, residents will be asked to bring a dish. If your last name starts with A-L, please bring a side dish. If your last name begins with M-Z, please bring a dessert. There is always plenty of food, and it's always great, so please plan to attend. This year's meeting will include voting for officers and a 50-50 drawing. ******************************** Annual Hoene Springs Halloween Party Planned for Saturday, October 25 Hoene Springs will hold its annual Halloween Party October 25 in Winnifred Park at 7 p.m. It will include a children's party, followed by a bonfire, which the adults always enjoy. Come join your neighbors and friends for a great time. A rain date is planned for October 26. Click here to view photos from last year's event. 
******************************** March Flooding Closes Highway W, Cuts Off Hoene Springs in Both Directions The area received more than a foot of rain March 17 to 19, and many states experienced massive flooding, including Missouri. The Meramec and Big Rivers were some of the hardest hit. Highway W to Eureka was closed beginning March 19, and stayed closed for some time. To the south, Highway W to 30 was also closed beginning March 20, completely cutting off residents, though the water had receded by Friday, March 21. The main entrance to Hoene Springs, on Winnifred (shown at right) was completely submerged for several days, making Lakeview Drive the only way in for many. Luckily, none of the houses were affected by the flood waters. We have a great track record in Hoene Springs. The houses stayed high and dry in the floods of 1982, 1993 and 2008! Some residents packed up and stayed with friends and relatives when Highway W (the only way in and out) was close to becoming impassable. Other residents decided to stay behind, and most visited the Winnifred Road entrance to take pictures and share stories with other residents. View the photographs at right. ******************************** Residents Vote No on Sewers A vote was taken at the Highway W Firehouse last fall to decide whether to continue with the Hoene Springs sewer project. A total of 35 residents voted yes, 45 voted no, and the rest did not vote, which counted as a no vote. The residents have spoken.
